We are please to announce that the final report of Dr. Limbos' survey of Canadian Family Physicians has been accepted for presentation at the European Congress of Psychology in Milan Italy, July 7-9, 2015. The paper, entitled: Determinants of Screening for Developmental Disabilities in Primary Care is the final report of the survey of over 250 physicians in British Columbia and Ontario, Canada. The highlights of the survey are that fewer than half of physicians make use of standardized developmental screening tools. Only a handful of physicians make use of the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers and other well researched developmental screening tools, such as the PEDS and the ASQ. Dr. Limbos previously demonstrated the clinical utility of the PEDS and the ASQ in screening for developmental delays in children in her study published in the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. The research highlights the need for further dissemination of guidelines for developmental screening in primary care.
